On 5th August 2023 an art expedition stall was held raising awareness on the importance of art and creativity in the community. Both art and artist were taking over for the day working within the community to exhibit and discuss art.
Panjabi items and key elements were discussed such as:
Rivers of Panjab
Koyal (bird - nightingale)
Morni (Peacock)
Horses of Panjab
Panjabi food
Instruments such as tumbi, dholki
Phulkari, outfits and independence - women's skills of making their own clothes
Natives flowers and fields - inspiration of music and films
The art expedition stall helped improve the understanding of South Asian communities, bringing people together in support of Alexander Divine Children's Hospice, where the public donated to support our children
We thank the Tesco team for all their efforts and all the staff who dressed in their traditional clothing for the day.
